A brave 5-year-old boy was hailed as a hero after rescuing his entire family from certain death as their home in Bartow County, Georgia, caught fire.
Noah Woods is a young boy like no other who risked his life to save his family after a house fire woke him up from his sleep.
As little Noah saw the flames spreading in his room, he quickly rescued his 2-year-old sister and his dog by taking them out through the window.
“I picked Lily up, got to the window with Lily, got the dog and got out. That’s it, and I got myself out,” he said in an interview with WSB.
After they were safely outside their home, Noah woke up his uncle who lives next door and rushed back to the house to alert six other members of his family.
“If it wasn’t for Noah – I mean we were all asleep so we wouldn’t have known what was going on,” David Woods, the boy’s proud grandfather, told WSB.
Thanks to the 5-year-old’s swift actions, the entire family made it out of the house with minor burns. If the boy didn’t act in time, however, they could have easily succumbed to smoke inhalation or burning.
“We’ve seen children alert their families before, but for a five-year-old to be alert enough to do this … that’s pretty extraordinary,” Bartow County Fire Department’s Chief Dwayne Jamison said in an interview with CNN.
As the family revealed on GoFundMe after the incident, their home was entirely devastated by the fire. They are also collecting donations after admitting they have stopped paying for their home insurance.
