Land of the legends, Denmark, is an open-air museum, which takes you through time and space.
It consists of a reconstructed Iron age village, a sacrificial bog, a stone age campsite, an 18th-century farmstead, a Viking marketplace, and various grave monuments. Build in 106 acres; it is perfect for people who wish to escape their gadget-clad life for a few days.
A 23-year-old, Toni Genov, decided to take a break from his internet-filled life and went to the Land of Legends for 24 hours. Instead of going for a relaxing holiday, he made up his mind to live like the legends for a day.
He dressed in period costume, which was a simple robe and went ahead for his day to be spent as a legend. He carried his day-to-day activities, which included using spears for cooking food over an open fire and carrying pails of water.
At the end of the day, Toni had to make his way back to his hut through a near pitch-black countryside.
Except for a nearly 1700 years-old machine, which he used to grind wheat into flour for his daily bread, his day was deprived of any modern day machinery.
According to Toni, the most challenging part was how disconnected he felt. He felt so because he had a habit of always being connected with his friends. This disconnection was the only thing that bothered him.
His overall experience, as he said, was enjoyable. He was happy how the feeling of the community came rushing back. He and fellow people sang songs and exchanged stories around the fire at night.
There are many more things to be done at the Land of the Legends. There are workshops of weaving and pottery, which can be done. There are pastures, gardens, and fields that are natural scenarios of reconstruction and activities.
