A young boy has gone viral after it was revealed he used his savings to buy chocolatey treats for health workers who looked after his father when he got hospitalized.
To thank the doctors and nurses who treated 35-year-old Kelvin Baker after the man was involved in a serious car crash, his son, 4-year-old Kelvin Jr., purchased a whole shopping cart of Easter eggs.
While the healthcare workers worked hard to save the life of the boy’s father, he eventually succumbed to his injuries leaving behind his wife and their son.
Even though his father couldn’t be saved, young Kelvin has always been grateful to everyone who attempted to save his life.
“I explained to him that all the paramedics and doctors tried to help Daddy but the medicine and things didn’t work,” the boy’s mother, Simone, explained according to The Sun.
“When he learned that the doctors and nurses would have to work over Easter and probably wouldn’t get Easter eggs he decided to help.”
Hearing of the pressures that healthcare workers are going through amid the pandemic, the 4-year-old decided to reward them with Easter eggs.
After collecting some 20 packs from Good Samaritans who left them at his home, Kelvin decided to buy 180 more with his savings.
Speaking of the kind gesture, Tony Dunn, who works as a paramedic, said: “It was a fantastic gesture that came out of nowhere at a very difficult time for the ambulance service.”
Mr. Dunn has also started a JustGiving fundraiser with the goal of raising funds to send Kelvin to Disneyland after the pandemic is over.
“Last December, Little Kelvin lost his Daddy in a Road Traffic Accident. Since then, Kelvin has been saving his pocket-money and with the help of some public donations, brought 6 very large bags full of Easter Eggs to the Hospital for the Medical Staff and Ambulance crews that tried to save his Daddies life,” the page read.
“… The love shown across the country for this beautiful and very special gesture has been nothing short of amazing. [We want] to give this little boy a very special treat – A trip to Eurodisney… Or if we make enough, Disneyland in Florida.”
