In the teaching profession, there never goes a day which is not exciting and fulfilling as it needs to be. The day becomes even brighter with the help of sweet children, strong-willed kids, and appreciation.
Teachers go above and beyond to make sure that the kids are always happy and joyful. On one such day, a teacher from South Carolina spotted a 7-year-old boy riding his bike alone on the very risky Highway.
Keller Sutherland teaches to the first grade at Ellen Woodside Elementary School, and she decided to go home early on 6th Feb, Wednesday. It was a long day for Keller, so before driving home, she got herself a pack of crackers from the vending machine.
Keller wrote on a Facebook post that her day was not going right and she felt that she wasn’t making any difference in the lives of her students.
She felt like she was failing in everything she was doing. So she asked for prayer and texted some of her good friends. She continued by saying that she was just about to go home, but God has some different and wondrous plans for her.
The same day a seven-year-old kid who is known as Cameron Simoncic went home after school that day and he felt that things weren’t right as he found his father lying on the floor in an unconscious state.
The boy knew that his father needed to visit the doctor, so he unlocked his father’s phone to call for help.
After failing at getting any help from the neighbors, the boy took his bike and started riding towards his grandmother’s house which is 5 miles away from his home.
The route to his grandmother’s house was dangerous for the little boy as the lanes were always full of traffic.
Keller was talking to her husband while driving the car, and she saw the boy riding the bike alone on the highway. She immediately told her husband that she thinks that she should turn around and see what’s going on with the boy.
When she saw the boy, she quickly realized that Cameron was her student a year before.
When she met Cameron, he promptly told the teacher about his father and Keller called 911 for help. The ambulance and firefighters came quickly to Cameron’s house.
Cameron claimed that his father has diabetes and his brain stops working when such a situation occurs. The paramedics immediately gave an injection to his father to normalize his sugar levels.
Keller claimed that she is extremely proud to see the boy’s courage to help his father though he didn’t reach his grandmother’s house. She was glad to pass by him and help him.
Keller was rewarded for her responsible and generous behavior of how a teacher can help the students both inside and outside the classroom.
