A 22-year-old woman has revealed her boyfriend does not want to introduce her to his pals because of her weight.
The unnamed woman took to Reddit and shared the sadness she is experiencing from seeing her 21-year-old partner ‘uncomfortable’ about introducing her to his buddies.
“My boyfriend does not want to introduce me to his friends because they hate fat people,” she wrote.
The woman, who weighs 96kg and is 6ft 3in tall, said she has suffered an eating disorder since she was a teen but has had help from her doctors.
“Years of binging, starving and throwing up has really messed up my system and I started to gain a lot of weight,” she expressed.
“He has never had issue with my weight. I’m 160cm tall and 96kg right now and about the same when we met.
“He always said he does not care about it and calls me beautiful every day. Our relationship is great but he is scared what his friends might think of me and him when they see me. He does not want to choose between his friends and me.”
She continued: “His friends are bit judgmental about weight, even his own weight. What should i do? I love him so much. But the fact that this makes him uncomfortable makes me really sad.”
In another post, the heartbroken woman revealed that her boyfriend’s pals would make cruel remarks about his ex-girlfriend.
“I don’t know. His friends are not supportive about that at all. It makes him feel bad. Also they are single and maybe just don’t get it. Maybe they want him to be single,” she added.
Her post received many responses from people who reassured her that she deserves someone better.
“My friend, he IS choosing between his friends and you – and you are not the winner,” one person commented.
“What he’s really telling you here is either that he’s not willing to stand up to his friends and tell them to f*** off with their opinions, or he actually holds their views too and doesn’t want to bring you around them because he’s embarrassed by your appearance.
“Either way, you deserve to be with someone who is proud to introduce you to his friends.”
Another wrote: “Find someone who loves your curves and dump the one who uses your size as an excuse to not take you out. You need to find someone who is generous with his heart and who is neither stingey with his cash nor unwilling to stand up for you against the opinions of his ‘friends’.”
