Two schoolboys, aged 14 and 13, told their pal ‘we’re not coming to school today’ only minutes before they died at a home in Sheffield.
The teens passed away and another four children were injured after the incident.
His sister said that the teens alerted a friend with a message on a Nintendo Switch console only 30 minutes before cops were called to the home at 7:30 am.
Speaking to The Sun Online, the 23-year-old carer said the boys messaged a school friend saying: “We’re not coming to school today because we’re feeling sick.”
After they sent the message to their friend, South Yorkshire Police immediately went to the home with scared neighbors recalling how a small boy was taken on a stretcher as nurses tried to revive him.
The 4 other children, aged 7-months-old, 3-years-old, 10-years-old and 11-years-old, cried as they were taken from the home in bandages.
A 37-year-old man and 34-year-old woman have been arrested on suspicion of murder.
“It’s dreadful and totally shocking and I really can’t believe what’s happened,” the carer added.
The teens were at the same school as the carer’s 13-year-old brother and their neighbor. The cause of death hasn’t been determined and a post-mortem examination will be carried out.
The four surviving children had non-life threatening injuries, according to South Yorkshire Police. Superintendent Paul McCurry said the children were provided with “the necessary care that they need.”
“They will be in hospital for certainly the next few hours,” he added.
The neighbor who saw the two children taken from the home said they were “fine although very upset.”
They added: “Then the two youngest boys walked out and they also seemed okay. But then one of the other lads was brought out on a stretcher and was being resuscitated.”
A mother who has lived at the address said cops told her it was possibly domestic-related. “They came to the door and just asked if I knew the people, did I hear anything through the night,” she expressed.
“I don’t really socialize with my neighbors but it’s a fairly quiet street. It’s the last thing you expect to wake up to.”
