A bride has dressed up in a T-Rex costume and sneaked behind her groom’s back in order to surprise him on their wedding day.
30-year-old Elizabeth Rex Hundley was determined to prepare one final surprise for her now-husband, Tom Gardner, before the pair tied the knot in Bald Head Island, North Carolina.
To make the day unforgettable, the woman, whose mother’s middle name is Rex, borrowed a T-Rex costume and sneaked behind the groom who was waiting for her at the bridge.
“My mother’s maiden name, and my middle name, is Rex. So, I thought it would be funny to wear the costume on the day I would go from a Rex/Hundley to a Gardner,” Elizabeth said in an interview with The Huffington Post.
“I even had my bridesmaids take pictures of me the day before the wedding holding a sign that said: ‘Today a Rex, tomorrow a Gardner.’
“I was a little worried, which is why you can hear me saying, ‘Are you freaking mad that I did this?’ in the video. But he has always encouraged me to be myself, so I took a shot in the dark.”
Fortunately, Tom reacted to his bride’s surprise in the sweetest way possible. He burst out laughing before kissing Elizabeth through the costume.
“I was floored, completely and utterly surprised at what she did. I was totally disarmed and could not stop from bursting with laughter. It was just so her,” Tom added.
“Some residents of the island drove by a few times with giant smiles on their faces and laughing, but I didn’t have a clue as to why.”
As the happy man admitted, the surprise was the perfect way to kick off their married life together.
“It validated for me all the planning that went into that day and started things off right and kept it lighthearted. I knew I was marrying my partner in life.”
