A woman revealed how her furious sister accused her of not caring about her wedding after refusing to agree to her demands.
As an unnamed lady wrote in her Reddit post, she decided she would not be attending her own sister’s wedding due to her unreasonable demands, leaving the bride fuming and the family on the verge of a fallout.
Explaining her decision not to attend her sister’s wedding, the woman revealed how the bride told her guests they would have to stay at a lavish hotel where they will be charged over $1,000 per room for one night.
“She’s getting married in this castle-style hotel. Very fancy, very expensive, and quite a drive from everyone’s home – but she is not booking them for a wedding suite or a wedding package for room rates,” the bride’s sister wrote.
“She has requested both sides of the family pay for the even more luxurious hotel on the beach that costs £600 ($830) a night, per person.
“And to get a suite fit for a family, because they don’t provide suitable furniture for kids to sleep on (I checked the website and called) it’s an extra £200 ($280) on top of that.”
The woman went on to explain why her sister is so determined to have her guests stay at the expensive hotel for the night.
“She wants us to stay there because she booked a photographer to take photos at 8 am the morning after the wedding on the beach the hotel is on, so we would also need to be up early for photos the next day,” she added.
After the woman told her sister that they could not afford to pay more than $1,000 for a single night, the bride allegedly exploded and called her “unreasonable.”
“My husband and I cannot afford it, it’s a huge expense. My sister said we were being unreasonable. I said she was being a bridezilla. She told me it’s her wedding, a once in a lifetime event, and I should do this for her. I told her I couldn’t,” the Reddit user wrote.
“She told me I should as her sister, as someone who loves her and wants to see her get married. I told her that her wedding was not worth going broke over, not when I have two kids to feed, clothe, house, etc.”
As the argument progressed, the bride allegedly called her sister a “raging bi***” and accused her of trying to sabotage her wedding. Following the quarrel, the sister decided to drop out of the wedding entirely.
After asking Reddit for advice, the sister quickly received lots of support with people calling the bride “selfish” and “inconsiderate” for expecting her guests to pay more than $1k for her wedding.
“What’s her problem? You literally can’t afford it yet she’s still having an attitude. Her childish behavior just proves that she’s not worth going broke over,” someone wrote.
“Who would force their guests to pay that much. It’s ridiculous. It’s her wedding, not yours, so you’re not obligated to pay that much.”
Another added: “Frankly, I don’t know anyone willing to do all that for someone else’s wedding. She’s gonna feel silly when she and her husband and the photographer are the only people there.”
