Isabella Evans, Britain’s smallest baby to be born in the last 20 years, has just celebrated her first birthday by defying all odds.
The tiny baby, from Bishop’s Cleave in Gloucestershire, was born on June 14, 2018, at 24 weeks.
She weighed just around 12 ounces at the time of her birth, and her hands were even smaller than 1p coins. Despite all odds, the teeny child has now turned one-year-old.
To mark this special occasion, Isabella’s parents Ryan Evans and Kym Brown threw a party in celebration.
The couple’s happy moment became even special when dad Ryan got down on one knee and proposed mom Kym to tie the knot with him.
Little Isabella blew out the candles on her cake as the guests sang Happy Birthday to her.
It was when Ryan said to Kym: “Obviously it’s not just a birthday celebration. It’s a celebration of survival really.
“For a long time, we did not think she would get to this point. We are now finally a family. There’s only one thing left to make us a real family.”
He then proposed his partner with a diamond ring. And as you would have guessed, Kym agreed.
The couple had faced really hard times after their daughter was born weighing less than one pound via an emergency cesarean section.
Isabella went through months of medical care and two life-threatening procedures before the doctors allowed her to get discharged from the hospital in December.
Following the celebration, Kym took to social media to thank Ryan for being ‘an amazing dad’ to Isabella.
She wrote: “After all we have been through this is the happiest day of my life. Our beautiful little miracle turned one, a huge milestone for such a little fighter.
“I am so, so proud of her, the most amazing person I know. Her smile keeps me going every single day.”
A delighted Ryan said: “I can’t wait for us to be man and wife.”
Aww, that’s so sweet. This lovely family deserves all the happiness in the universe!
