Britney Spears decided to check into a mental health facility as she couldn’t handle severe emotional stress over her father Jamie Spear’s colon condition.
The singer has been left distressed over her father’s worsening health that she put her Las Vegas residency on hold to be with him.
The details about his condition are not clear but it is known Jamie’s colon ruptured a few months ago and required a lifesaving operation. Since the incident, he has failed to go back to good condition.
The 37-year-old singer will spend a month at the mental health facility as she has been struggling to cope with the mental strain, TMZ reported.
This is not the first time Britney suffered from mental health problems. She had issues before including her 2007 meltdown when she shaved her head and checked into a Malibu rehab center.
She was also once photographed attacking a vehicle with an umbrella after her divorce. Britney also shaved her head in front of paparazzi during the riot.
The news came after Britney shared a message on Instagram which read: “Fall in love with taking care of yourself, mind, body, spirit.” She captioned the photo: “We all need to take time for a little ‘me time.’ :)”
TMZ reported that the singer’s father has had two major surgeries to correct major problems regarding his colon and intestines. He had the second procedure done recently but he has still been suffering complications.
According to a source, Britney checked into a facility for “all-encompassing wellness treatment” so she could “focus on herself.”
“Her dad being sick has taken a toll on her. He nearly died and actually had another surgery a few weeks ago. He’s not doing well.
“They’re so close and it has been a lot. There is nothing dramatic going on with her – she just realized she needs to make sure to take time to care for herself,” the source said.
