It has been the longest time since dinosaurs bid their goodbye to the world and now, all we have is their remains.
Yes, it has been the longest time since they have left the world but there are still discoveries that keep bringing out dinosaur remains.
Recently fossil bones were discovered from a construction site in Denver as a builder stumbled on the fossil bones. Turns out the bones are of a huge mature triceratops, that obviously died millions of years ago, 68 million to be exact.
The discovery was made several weeks ago by some builders who were working on the site.
After the discovery, it was mandatory to conduct the tests to verify the specifications of the bones. Denver Museum of Nature and Science’s team of experts then came to the task and found out that the bones dated as back as 68 million years and were of a triceratops.
The scientists confirmed that the bones had limbs and ribs that belong to the dinosaur with three horns.
The bones that we are talking about here were found settled in a rock layer that was about 65 to 68 million years old near Highlands Ranch’s retirement community.
Now the construction workers have changed their directions and are working in order to find more fossils in the area around.
According to the museum, triceratops’s bones are the most common bones to be found in Colorado.
Museum’s curator of vertebrate paleontology, Dr. Tyler Lyson, said “It is great to find yet another fossil. It is always great finding a fossil. We are continuing our work on the site to find more and we will keep sharing the information as we dig in.”
He added, “Although the discovery of fossils is not very common, it is great to know how much the planet has yet to offers us.”
