From delicious steak you have just prepared to shoes and slippers, dogs can eat up pretty much anything.
But this 2-year-old dog named Devil surprised not only his owner but also vets after he ate 38 rubber ducks!
Nong Aom, its owner, had rushed Devil to the vet after he started retching at her home in Pattaya, Thailand.
She realized that her furry companion had played inside a box of 50 yellow ducks she had purchased to decorate her swimming pool as she found that most of them were missing.
As she thought that Devil had eaten some of the toys up, he spat one of the duck and puked five more toys out.
The panic-stricken owner rushed him to the vet as there were 32 ducks more in his belly. Emergency surgery was performed to remove small rubber ducks one by one from the poor dog’s stomach.
The process took over an hour but all 32 ducks were successfully removed along with an undigested cow-skin snack and two pieces of rubber balls.
Devil, who obviously had no idea of the stress he had caused his human, woke up from the anesthetic and fortunately not in pain.
“Normally my dog will not eat everything. He knows what’s edible and what’s not. But this time he swallowed 38 of the ducks,” said Nong Aom.
“There were 12 left and he would have ate the rest if he didn’t start to feel sick. It’s very lucky I found him and I live so close to the vets or he might not have survived.”
The owner said she had bought the rubber ducks to decorate their swimming pool but Devil managed to get into the box during the night. The next day, he looked incredibly sick.
Vet Muy said this was the first time she had seen so many rubber duck toys in a dog. “I have removed rubber toys from dogs’ bellies before but I have never encountered this many. It was unbelievable.
“Rubber ducks and other small toys are very dangerous. You have to be careful because dogs are very innocent and don’t know that toys are not meant to be eaten.”
