Isabel ‘Izzy’ Lane, from Wisconsin, kept holding the hand of tearful four-year-old Axel Johnson as she drove the school bus with her other hand.

‘The compassion we see every day in our teachers, bus drivers, custodians, administration, food service staff, and paraprofessionals is truly admirable,’ the department wrote in their post.

Axel was pretty excited to go to school but as soon as he boarded the bus, anxiety got better of the kindergarten kid and he started crying with tears all over his face.

Speaking to Fox7, Lane said: ‘I picked him up and got him on bus. He started to cling to me and I told him, “Buddy, you got this and will have so much fun!”‘

Axel’s mother Amy Johnson captured the photo of her kid emotionally holding onto Lane’s hand while sitting in the first row.

‘The day after that he was waiting at the bus stop all by himself, he got on all smiles and talking to me the whole time so he is doing much better now,’ the driver said.

Lane shared a pic of Axel waiting for her the next day on Facebook, writing: ‘So blessed I get to wake up every morning and make a difference! LOVE my job!!’

‘I think it kind of goes for anyone, if you see someone maybe struggling just to do something as simple as reaching out a hand and showing that you are there,’ she told WEAU.

‘You don’t have to say anything but just to show someone you are there makes a big difference in someone’s day.’
