Aufschnitt Textile Butchers is selling cushions that look like sausages and bacon. Aufschnitt Textile Butchers on Boxhagener Street, Berlin, has a quirky look at the shop has meat counter and hanging meat on the wall.
Silvia Wald – CEO and owner of Aufschnitt Textile Butchers – studied Clothing Technology in Berlin.
She then decided to open this quirky shop. She said: “Aufschnitt Berlin is one of the most unusual label for design of lifestyle products and home accessories. I’m a vegetarian and I thought it would be super fun to make my clients a little sausage brooch, and it was so hilarious I just had to make the whole collection.”
“I don’t eat meat. I’m a vegetarian. This paradox reveals my sense of humor. I work with something I actually don’t like.”
“Our main collection imitates sausages and meat products. We make them by using traditional sewing techniques with a special detail.”
“The product plays with humor, perception, culture, the ‘Zeitgeist’, texture, abstraction, and with fantasy — the imitation disappoints. I find it so striking that you can you take a piece of fabric and it can become a sausage.”
They create sausages, meat cuts and organs using cotton, lycra, synthetic leather, and natural dyes. They look so real that sometimes customers walk into the shop thinking it is real.
She said: “Sometimes when I’m in the shop I see a customer crossing the street thinking: ‘I’m going to get a good piece of meat’ and then they come in and say: ‘Everything’s made from textiles!’ and they start to laugh.”
“This is what I love about my job.”
A video of her shop was posted online and everyone was left surprised at how creative she is!
One user wrote: ‘I love that the fried egg pillow has slightly browned edges. Now that’s attention to detail!’ while another added: ‘Oh my gosh, I had better look more closely! I thought it was real meat’.
