“I am for a woman’s right to choose,” Caitlin told CNN’s Brianna Keilar. “I am also for a state having the ability to make their own laws, so I support Texas in that decision. That’s their decision. I’m OK with that.”

“Now, do I agree with the decision or not?” Caitlin added. “No, to be honest with you I actually probably do not agree with the decision, but I agree [Texas has] the right to make their own decision.”

Caitlin, who is currently running for Governor, went on to say that she doesn’t expect any changes to be made in regards to California’s current abortion laws.

As it stands, it’s legal for Californian women to seek out abortion as long as the fetus is not yet viable, and/or the termination is necessary to protect the life or health of the mother.

Since the 71-year-old’s CNN interview, people have since taken to social media to slam Caitlin for her remarks.

“If you’re for TX and other states being able to make any laws they want, then you’re actually NOT “for a woman’s right to choose,” one person has said.

“Following this logic, Caitlyn Jenner would be fine if Texas reinstituted slavery,” another one has added.

“If you want to allow the state to choose for her, then you don’t support a woman’s right to choose,” a third commenter said.

Meanwhile, the abortion ban in Texas, which prohibits women from having to terminate their pregnancies after six weeks, came into effect on September 1 and has since been met with heavy criticism around the world.

In addition, the ban in the state also fails to take into account the women who may want an abortion after the specified time due to the pregnancy being a result of incest or rape.

Since the ban came into effect this month, many people have argued that the law goes against women’s rights, as they should be able to choose what they want to do with their own bodies.
