Bartolo ‘Buddy’ Valastro Jr.
, the American baker best known for being the main star of the reality television show Cake Boss, was hospitalized after a terrible accident during which he impaled his right hand.
As the 43-year-old Carlo’s Bakery owner revealed in his social media posts, he was involved in a “really bad accident” at his New Jersey home.
“Hey guys, Buddy here, I had a really bad accident the other day at my house with my hand … thank you for all your love and support, we’re going to get through this together,” Buddy explained.
According to the reports, the face of Buddy V’s Ristorante was released from the hospital following two surgeries and is currently recovering at his home.
As the baker’s representative revealed in an interview with People, the bizarre accident occurred at the TV star’s home as a bowling pinsetter malfunctioned, prompting Buddy to attempt to remove the pin from the mechanism manually.
According to the People, the 43-year-old’s dominant right hand then “became lodged and compressed inside the unit” before getting repeatedly impaled by a metal rod.
Buddy was eventually rescued from the mechanism by his two sons, aged 13 and 16, who cut through the rod using a saw.
Following surgeries at NJ’s Morristown Memorial Hospital and Manhattan’s Hospital for Special Surgery, the Cake Boss star was sent home where he is in for a long recovery.
As the chef’s representative told People, “it will be an uphill battle” because Buddy’s right hand is his dominant hand.
Sending prayers for Buddy’s fast recovery.
