In Westminster, a cop attacked a woman who he restrained just moments before.
This throws controversy right after the George Floyd case’s verdict of police brutality being one of the factors of death to the victim. It is similar in which the victim is restrained in handcuffs, unable to do anything else.
There is cellphone footage that has been captured, and other officers on the scene yell at the other cop, “No, stop!” once he started to punch the woman in handcuffs. He started to punch her in the head when pushing her down to the ground, but another officer on the scene alleviates the situation by pushing him away from the woman.
There are other bystanders who witness the situation, the chaotic scene arises and the other cop can be heard in the background saying “Oh no.” The reason that the police were there was due to the calls that they got, suspecting the female assaulting another woman who tried to rescue a dog that ran into the street.
Witnesses also believe that the suspect seemed as if she was acting under the influence. As cops arrived to the scene, the suspect started to go into combat mode as they approached her.
Sources state that a WPD officer “used force and struck [the woman] two time in the face with his fist. Two WPD officers immediately intervened and deescalated the situation.”
After being restrained and held down, the female had been admitted into a hospital before being booked into the Orange County jail. This scene occurs right after police officer Derek Chauvin had been admitted as guilty for his actions.
In this incident, the officer who had punched the restrained woman repeatedly in the head is now placed on administrative leave, internal affairs start to investigate the situation at hand.
Thankfully there were no fatal injuries, and the incident has been alleviated as other officers hold back their colleague from inciting any further damage.
