The proposal of calorie cap is bringing 951 calories per meal, which might compel these fast food restaurant chains to modify their menu.
Owing to the increasing obesity epidemic in the UK, Dame Sally Davies, Chief Medical Officer, has extended the initiative to tackle the issue.
In her final report, Davies mentioned that they are nowhere near solving obesity, it’s just a baby towards that one big goal.
According to reports, the calorie cap will possibly ban food and aerated drinks from trains and buses and increase VAT on unhealthy food. With a view to save money invested in junk food, calorie cap encourages people to shift towards healthier alternatives.
Schools and nurseries will be offering only water and milk as drinks putting an end to a junk food culture that is developed in the school.
Calorie cap will have a great impact on popular junk food franchises like KFC, Mc Donald’s’, Dominos, etc.
According to sources, KFC will have to remove some of the major meals from its menu like Big Daddy Meal Box, Zinger Stacker Meal, the Fillet Box, etc.
When it comes to Mc Donald’s, calorie ca[ can shred items like Double Quarter Pounder, French Stack fries, Italian Stack and Fries, etc.
Though calories cap is aimed to elevate people’s lifestyles, many people are going to be heartbroken when they couldn’t eat their favourite meal.
