Cancer Battling Police Officer Got to Walk His Son to School After His Doctor Cleared Him Off


The bad days never come knocking on your door, asking your permission to enter in.

They intrude your life and change all that you have planned.

This is the same that happened to this officer in blue who checked into hospital early this month for his cancer treatment.

Police officer Andy Mattaline of Woodson Terrace, Missouri did know life was going to change this way. He found out that he is suffering from esophageal and stomach cancer.

For the treatment of the same, he was admitted to Saint Louis University Hospital where his treatment will continue for about 12 weeks. He is off duty until the time as the sheriff’s department has asked him to keep his focus on getting better.

For the time being, he is completely bound to stay in the hospital room. But a very special day was approaching and he needed to get out.

Andy’s son Carmine is an autistic child and his first day to kindergarten was approaching and Andy wanted to walk his son to school.

He asked his doctor whether he can take an off for a couple of hours and his doctor let him go. But the man had not just worked in the police but won love and friendship over the years too.

While he was taking his treatment, he was not sure if the doctors would allow him to leave or not this is why, to escort his son Carmine to school on August 12, 2019, about 20 officers for 10 separate departments showed up at his doorstep.

He was glad that his brothers and sisters in blue were so supportive. His wife said that this was a blessing to them and she was overwhelmed with the act.
