A devastated dog owner got the support of 30 strangers for her cancer-stricken pooch’s final walk.
Alison French, 57, posted about her 14-year-old Shih Tzu Looby’s last walk along Wallasey beach, Merseyside in the UK, on social media.
The pet had battled lymphoma cancer for almost three years and doctors had warned Alison that she would only live for a few weeks.
”I’m disabled and I’ve had Looby since she was a puppy’, Alison told the Liverpool Echo.”
”I don’t really have anyone to support me, so I posted on a few local groups to see if anyone could help me say goodbye to her.”
”And the response was fantastic, hundreds of people have shared the post and said they would come down to the beach.”
Alison welcomed anybody that would ‘love to come and say hello and goodbye to her.’
After Lobby was put down, Alison made a post to thank everyone who joined her for the final walk of the pet.
She wrote: ”All the lovely caring women, men and children that helped me get through today… You were all so wonderful, thoughtful, caring and really helpful.”
Writing about her dog, she said: ”Looby you were a brilliant dog for me. I miss you so much but at least you are up in heaven now out of pain.”
”You can also eat what you want up there… as you hate dog food.”
”Goodnight everybody. I’m going to sleep next to her tonight as she will be getting buried very soon.”
Many social media users showed their support to Alison in her hard time and one wrote, ‘Sending you so much love right now. I wish I could take your pain away.’
Another commented: ‘Such a lovely thing that you did for her. Sending you our love.’
