Captain Tom Moore managed to capture the hearts of people after he raised more than £30million for the UK’s National Health Service.
The 100-year-old hero, who was promoted from Captain to Honorary Colonel for his efforts, was offered £1million of nightclub appearances, The Sun Online reported.
“Captain Tom is the nation’s hottest property,” a source told the news outlet. “Some nightclubs have talked about whether a 100-year-old is right for the kind of marketing they usually do, but the truth is that Tom has captured everyone’s hearts of all ages.
“The nightclubs are insisting that he would be very well cared for and not have to stay longer than one hour so he doesn’t get home too late.”
The source added: “All things considered, it’s a fantastic deal for a man who really deserves it.”
War veteran Moore raised over £30 million for the NHS by walking laps of his garden. He thanked all of his supporters on Twitter has he reached the whopping amount on his fundraising page.
“£30 Million! THANK YOU everyone you are all magnificent,” he wrote on Twitter.
He recently celebrated his 100th birthday and received over 125,000 birthday cards, which are displayed at Bedford School where his grandson studies.
“The volume of cards that have been sent to grandad is just astonishing,” his grandson, Benjie Ingram-Moore, said. “So many of the cards are truly heartfelt with thousands from young children who have taken the time to use their artistic talent and write a personal message.”
In an interview with CNN, Moore said he never thought he would raised so much money for healthcare workers.
“I’m absolutely overwhelmed by this sum of money — and when you transfer those into American dollars it’s even bigger. We really never, ever for a minute thought we would get to this sort of money. We started off with a little modest figure,” he expressed.
