Sgt. John Perrine, Indiana State Police Public Information Officer in Central Indiana urged people to use the cars’ safety feature that many of us don’t use in a public service announcement.
Perrine urged people to use the most neglected feature – the turn signal. He asked people to use the turn signal while changing lanes or making turns to avoid causing an accident.
Using the Turn signal is really very important but most of the people don’t use this feature.
48% of drivers don’t use turn signals while changing lanes or making a turn, according to a survey conducted by SAE International.
According to SAE International, ‘the turn signal is a vital safety feature that is not only required to be built in as standard equipment on all vehicles, but their use by the driver in everyday driving is required by law.
Since not all drivers are diligent at properly actuating turn signals in every situation, the use of the turn signal is less than 100%.’
The informative yet funny video of Sgt. John Perrine was shared online and has already been viewed more than 10million times.
One person commented on the video: ‘You sir are awesome and a credit to the state of Indiana and our country’ while another added: ‘John! This is the greatest video ever! All jokes aside- there is a major epidemic of bad drivers out here in Los Angeles, that don’t signal, it’s infuriating!! You should be nominated for man of the year!!! You should come to LA and do a speaking tour on this subject!!!!’
One user wrote: ‘Mate, that’s brilliant. There are a LOT of people down here in Australia, that would benefit from seeing your video’.
Another added: ‘Absolutely love this! Great job. Going to share this all over facebook.’
