Cardi B won album of the year award for her debut Invasion of Privacy at the 2019 BET Awards and also took best female hip-hop artist for the second year in a row.
The 26-year-old rapper was the first female rapper to ever win Album Of The Year. She was nominated with seven nominations, including two for the top prize – video of the year – with her hits Money and Please Me, with Bruno Mars.
Cardi performed with her husband Offset. She looked stunning in an emerald green bodysuit with matching emerald chaps and heeled boots and gave Offset a full-on lapdance on stage which was mind-blowing.
Her husband opened the show with Clout, the latest song on which they collaborated. He was wearing a boilersuit and a bulletproof vest.
“I want to thank my hubby too @offsetyrn you just got soo much swag in yo dance I wanted you to show,” she later wrote on Instagram.
Cardi who was a stripper in her past life has always been open about it. During those days she earned $20,000 by the age of 21.
“I made a lot of money, I had a good time and it showed me a lot – it made me open my eyes about how people are, how men are, about hunger and passion and ambition,” she recently said.
Cardi is making her movie debut as a stripper alongside Jennifer Lopez and Constance Wu in movie Hustlers.
In the movie, JLo will play the ringleader of the infamous group. “There is no other actor who could embody this raw and dynamic character with such complexity, humanity and intelligence. It’s always been her. She’s f–king Jennifer Lopez,” Director Lorene Scafaria previously said.
Hustlers will be released in cinemas from 13 September 2019. The movie is based on a New York Magazine article from 2016 that “follows a crew of savvy former strip club employees who band together to turn the tables on their Wall Street clients.”
