If you have a stressful job trying to work your way up the corporate ladder, it’s often fun to imagine what life would be like in a farm far away from the city.

Of course, what we know of farms are often the idealized versions that we see in television shows but still, the thought of being so carefree while surrounded by nature is very enticing, indeed.

However, there are, in fact, farms that really do manage to bring to life those idyllic images such as this one in Millbrook, Ontario. This farm specializes in ethical farming, meaning that they raise cows as close to their ideal environment as possible.

Unlike most commercial farming operations, the cows in this farm are allowed to roam the fields and feel safe in the knowledge that the workers here are on the lookout for their best interests.

Because of that, the cows are not stressed and are even friendly towards humans. That should lead to a better product because whenever an animal feels stressed, it releases hormones that affect anything produced from it whether it’s the milk or the meat.

On this warm, spring day, a drone managed to capture the sight of several calves frolicking on those inviting green fields while the adults indifferently watch their surroundings. Of course, this particular herd is watched over by a protective black bull named Gus, which is probably one reason why the other cows are not afraid.

The farm houses around 45 cows with 25 calves and the wide-open fields allow these calves ample opportunities to explore their surroundings while gaining strength at the same time. The calves mostly sleep, nurse, explore, and play with each other and it’s actually quite easy to become envious of their carefree lifestyle.

Truth to tell, farms like these in Canada are not that uncommon. So if one is still unable to give up meat, then choosing to patronize an ethical farm only makes sense. While a bit more expensive, your conscience is clearer and you also get a better product overall. It’s a win-win situation that every person who can’t give up meat should consider.
