A 48-year-old caregiver was caught stealing from an elderly stroke victim after her family set up a hidden camera inside a clock!
Sharon Wilcox can be seen stealing from the Sylvia Williams she was supposed to be caring for. She was also caught maltreating on many different occasions.
Jayne Hines, Mrs. William’s daughter, placed the hidden camera in a clock in the living room to check if everything was going well.
But she was shocked to see Wilcox opening her mother’s bag to steal money.
Mrs. Hines quietly collected evidence to give the police but other footage revealed something even worse. Wilcox was caught threatening the pensioner!
She was filmed threatening to turn the television off if Mrs. Williams didn’t change into her night clothes.
All videos were given to police and Wilcox pleaded guilty to ill-treatment and theft.
“I will never forgive her for what she’s done. The theft is one thing but the abuse…never,” said Mrs. Hines.
“After I knew what Sharon was doing I was still recording her visits so I had to be nice to her when I saw her. It was so hard. I would go home and cry. I had to wait until the police dealt with it.”
After watching the video, Wilcox said: “It doesn’t look good does it?”
After Mrs. William’s family complained, Wilcox was sacked by Ewloe-based Wepre Villa Home Care.
Wilcox cried as she sentenced the sentence was passed and was handed a 9-month prison term that was suspended for 18 months.
She was ordered to attend 25 days of rehabilitation sessions and carry out 120 hours of unpaid work in the community.
“I think she should have had a custodial sentence for what she did,” Mrs. Hines expressed.
“She didn’t even have to pay back the £30 she admitted she stole from her. It’s not the money, it’s the principle.
“I’m angry and I am upset. I don’t trust anyone now.”
