36-year-old Ashikiah Reid has been jailed for eight months after she was caught on camera slapping and abusing a 101-year-old dementia patient.
The evil carer from Erdington, Birmingham was secretly filmed and was caught slapping the elderly woman’s hands and arms.
In the footage, the dementia patient shouted in pain when Reid handled her. The 36-year-old used excessive force on the patient and slapped her multiple times.
The carer was caught after the woman’s family set up a hidden camera when they started to become suspicious of her behavior.
Reid admitted to two charges of a carer maltreating an individual at Birmingham Crown Court and was jailed for eight months.
“I am glad the woman responsible for inflicting unnecessary distress and pain on defenseless woman has been put behind bars,” said PC David Nash from the Public Protection Unit.
“A lot of trust is put into personal carers and this trust was shattered by Reid’s actions against this woman.
“I hope this can offer the victim’s family some closure, knowing that someone that showed no moral compass when caring for the elderly has been brought to justice.”
The abuser has been dismissed from her job and will never be able to practice as a carer again.
