A 26-Pound Cat Became An Internet Celebrity When The Animal Shelter Shared A Photo Of Him To Get Him Adopted


Nowadays everything goes viral and catches the attention of people very easily and the same happened when a fat cat became a star after breaking the Internet.

A 2-year-old, 26-pound tabby named BeeJay went viral on social media and people fell in love with him. Morris Animal Refuge in Philadelphia shared photos of the cat in a bid to get him adopted.

The shelter wrote in the description: “OMG, big boi Mr. B is a CHONK. He’s a chonk of a chonk. He redefines the term,”

The post garnered more than 33,000 likes and 10,000 retweets and BeeJay became an internet celeb.

The shelter said that after the post went viral the interest of people in adopting the fluffy behemoth has been “overwhelming.”

The Philadelphia Police Department even offered him a spot on the force if no one adopts her.

“Um, if he doesn’t get adopted (highly unlikely) he’s welcome to join our K9 Unit as its first Feline (he IS a cat, right?!) member,” the department tweeted.

Twitter users didn’t miss a chance to poke fun at BeeJay’s size. 

One user wrote: ‘I can’t afford that much lasagna.’

Another said: ‘That’s not a feline, it’s a kindergartner in a cat costume.’

People showed interest in adopting the cat and crashed Morris Animal Shelter’s adoption website less than 12 hours after the tweet.

Morris Animal Shelter apologized to users for the delay, saying: ”Mr. B. apologizes for crashing our website. We have our team working to get it back up as we speak. Unfortunately, they’re all cats, so it may take a little while.”
