Pets are our family members from the animal world and as such, we treat them with almost as much love and affection as our actual family members.
And sometimes, this involves dressing up our pets because we want them to look cool for some event or want them to look funny.

In general, dogs are okay with being dressed up but if you’ve ever owned a cat, you know that it’s another matter entirely. This particular video is no different as the owner dresses up a cat named Grandpa in a ridiculous shark costume. While his owners find the costume quite funny, Grandpa apparently doesn’t feel the same and just lays down on the floor in protest.
While cats like fitting themselves into impossibly small spaces, they also don’t like direct physical contact and the way the costume feels may not make them feel comfortable. We have to remember that cats (and any pets for that matter) are not people so they don’t enjoy the same things we do or in exactly the same way.
While we may love dressing up for occasions, our furry family members don’t really give a hoot. After all, most of them already have a coat of fur and adding another layer especially in a hotter climate may not be the most ideal for them.
In the end, it really depends on the personality of your pet. Some cats like being carried and cuddled while others will claw at you if you lay your hands on them for too long. So if you want to dress your pet up, try to introduce them to the outfit in the most gentle way possible and get them comfortable with the idea of having their bodies covered with a foreign object.
It will quickly become obvious if they’re not comfortable because they will either try to take it off or move and buck around refusing to wear the costume. In those cases, it’s best not to force the issue so as not to traumatize your pet.
Of course, in Grandpa’s case, he allowed himself to be dressed but he did look ridiculous which probably explained his reaction!
