Monique who is a two-year-old moggy has been at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home for more than 115 days.
Staff at the shelter decided to throw a party for Monique on her birthday as no one applied to adopt her.
They decorated Monique’s pen, gave her special toys, and shared news of the celebration online hoping that someone would come to adopt her. But nothing worked as no one arrived at Monique’s birthday party or didn’t show any interest in taking her home.
Monique continued her wait at the shelter in the hope that someone will come to take her with them. According to reports, the reason for the lack of interest in adopting Monique is the fact she is living with Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV+).
Her condition requires her new owner to ‘cat-proof’ their garden to make sure Monique can explore outdoors and enjoy some fresh air, without coming in to contact with other felines and spreading the virus.
Battersea’s Cattery Team Leader, Chrissie Grindrod, said: ”It’s always a shame to see one of our cats be repeatedly overlooked, especially one so young and with so much to offer as a pet.point 468 |
Monique is a gentle soul who thrives with human company, whether that be playing with her favorite toys together or curling up side by side on the sofa.point 125 | ”point 132 | 1
”She also won’t ever say no to a chin rub or two.point 305 |
Her birthday and Valentine’s Day may now have passed, but it’s not too late to give Monique her dream gift of a lovely new home.point 108 | We would encourage any potential owners to get in touch regardless of what they do or don’t know already know about FIV, and whether or not their garden is currently cat-proof.point 256 |
