People who own cats must be aware of all the mischief created by their pet.
Five-year-old Hatty stuck on the 30ft (9m) section of the Royal Albert Bridge, which connects Plymouth and Saltash.
Network Rail had to close the line to help in saving the cat and firefighters spent five hours to rescue her. But they were not the only one as Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals inspectors visited several times and attempted to rescue the cat twice.
Authorities planned to shut down the train lines in place. Rescuers guessed that the cat was scared of a passing train that made her not to come down.
But after six days on the bridge, Hatty decided to come back home. She reached Howden’s house and started to mew.
Owner Kirsty Howden told Plymouth Live that she was “shocked and elated.”
Ms. Howden, 39, walked back home from the bridge – 500ft (152m) away – at about 23:00 BST. The cat owner said that she was thinking for a second rescue attempt when she “heard a meow outside”.
Ms. Howden said: “I was sat responding to comments, heard a meow outside, had a look through the window, and there she was.”
“She is a bit skinny and smelly, very vocal and has now headed upstairs and put herself to bed.”
“I’d also like to thank the people who have followed Hatty’s story and the community in Saltash for rallying around, especially the ones who tried so hard to help get Hatty home,” she said.
“She is going to stay inside,” Howden told The Plymouth Herald. “We haven’t broken it to her yet, but yes, we’re going to try and make her a house-cat for a bit, because I don’t want any more adventures on the bridges.”
