Catherine Tyldesley, the actress who played Eva Price on the ITV soap opera Coronation Street, has opened up about her diet consisting of mainly plant-based meals.
20 years ago, Catherine would only eat junk food, would have steak for breakfast, and was a size 22.
She said: “I was a stickler for meat, meat, meat. At one point I was even eating steak for breakfast when I was doing a lot of weight training. I have a good friend who is a nutritionist and when I told him what I was eating he said, ‘Blimey, Cath, you’re not a bodybuilder’.”
However, when her tests showed her microbes were not working, she immediately changed her diet and started eating more plant-based meals with lots of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains.
The 36-year-old now feels more energized mentally and physically. She loves her new diet as she now eats different food.
She said: “And I enjoy food a lot more as I eat a wider range now and making all kinds of different recipes, rather than sticking to the same high-protein ones.”
Catherine is now married to Tom Mitford, who is a fitness trainer, and they have a 5-year-old son Alfie.
Catherine said: “Since I have had Alfie things are no longer about weight-loss, it is just about being on the planet for as long as possible.
When you are a busy working mum you can’t afford to get poorly.
Children are unforgiving like that. ”Catherine, who was a size 22 when she was a teenager, lost a lot of weight during last year’s Strictly Come Dancing as she noticed her clothes were too big for her.
She said when she ate a lot of junk food, she couldn’t function properly.
Now, she is happy that she decided to make healthy changes in her diet and now feels great and knows what she should and should not eat.
She said: “It is never too late to make changes and you could possibly prolong your life.”
