A teenager who was walking around in Manchester City was approached by a group of eight men in the early hours of 3:50 am.
Police have reviewed the video and it shows that he was attacked, punched, and dragged until being knocked unconscious.
Police also hope that witnesses who saw the scene unfold will give them a lead on who the group of men are.
The teenager who was attacked had been waiting with two friends, but the group of men, described as Asian and in their early 20s, started to abuse them verbally and then continued to assault them through physical means.
The footage unveils the main victim being attacked through punches, even dragged along the street and then continuing with their punches. They were just feet away from the Mercure Hotel.
The victim who had been hurt the most faces fatal injuries on the face, breaking bones in his cheek. One of the gang members had swung at him, letting him fall unconscious.
The member who punched at him was described as an Asian in his 20s, wearing black jeans and a blueish-grey jacket.
GMP’s City of Manchester Team, Gareth Gardiner, comments on the situation and says that “this was a totally unprovoked and sickening attack on a young lad who had been at a concert in the city centre with his two friends. This was their first visit to Manchester City Centre and this is the memory they will be left with.”
Gardiner released the CCTV in order to find people who might have seen the incident and would wish to speak upon it. They had been scarred during the holidays, around Christmas and New Year, and it was ruined for him by spending his time recovering from the damage done.
Gardiner states: “I want to be able to get him and his family the justice they deserve.”
