Cedric the Entertainer made fun of the Royal Family as he brought up Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s bombshell Oprah interview while hosting the Emmy Awards.
The 57-year-old comedian hosted the 73rd Primetime Emmy Awards in Los Angeles.
He joked that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s interview with Oprah Winfrey was the ‘real tea,’ saying that the Royal Family ‘need’ their son Archie so he can “teach the Queen how to use TikTok.”
Standing in front of a reduced crowd because of the pandemic, the stand-up star referenced popular Netflix show The Crown and said: “As great as The Crown is, it pales in comparison to the real monarchy…
“Oooo I mean that Oprah interview with Prince Harry and Meghan. That was the real tea right there, wasn’t it!?”
The Oprah interview was nominated for Outstanding Hosted Nonfiction Series or Special but it lost to CNN’s Stanley Tucci: Searching For Italy.
“Meghan must put it on that boy because he renounced his throne quicker than Eddie Murphy in Coming to America,” the comedian teased.
He also addressed Meghan’s claims that a member of the Royal Family questioned Archie’s skin color when she was still pregnant with her son.
“I can’t believe they were talking about that little baby like that, little Archie. How dark that little baby gonna be,” Cedric said.
“They need little Archie! Charles can’t dance, who else going to teach them how to TikTok. I can just see it now, baby Archie with the Queen like, ‘Come on Gammy,’” he joked.
Cedric also shared his vision and laughed: “The whole crown behind them like, ‘Ok your majesty, I see you.’”
Josh O’Connor, known for playing Prince Charles in The Crown, looked a little sheepish as the comedian made his jokes.
