Celebrating The 70th Anniversary of Queen Elizabeth And Prince Philip


The highly respected Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip are relationship goals.

Their marriage just turned 70. Not many make it even to the 70-year mark in life. So it an impressive achievement for them. Surprisingly, they kept it low key and made no fuss about it.

The rare milestone, they’ve just reached is the first in history for British Monarchs. This explains why it became a sensation and went viral on social media.

Do you know they fell in love while teens? In fact, the Queen was 13 and he was 18 when they first met. Theirs was love at first sight; the Queen would later confess.

They didn’t make out much out of their love until later in life.  It wasn’t until the then Princess Elizabeth and her parents visited the Royal Naval College.  At the College, Philip, who was serving at the time showed the then Princess and her parents around sparkling a new lease of life to their relationship.

They announced their engagement upon Philip’s return from serving the Royal in World War II. Barely, four months later the royal couple wed.

It was on Nov 20, 1947, that the then Princes Elizabeth walked down the aisle with the love of her life Lieutenant Philip Mountbatten. Prince was dressed in the Naval Uniform while queen graced the day with an ivory silk gown. The gown was decorated with 10,000 Seed Pearl, crystals and 13 -foot-long train. Her ring was made out of a nugget of gold.

The glamorous event, decades ago was attended by just 2,000 guests. The rest could only listen to the live broadcast of the wedding on the radio. At the time, the Queen was escorted to the aisle by her Father King George VI. The Queen is now 91 while her husband Prince Philip is 96. This year they took a new portrait in the at the Windsor Castle, right in the white drawing room to honor their 70th anniversary.

In the Portrait, the Queen is wearing a cream-colored dress and a brooch from her private collection. The brooch, a gift from Prince Philip was made from yellow gold, carved ruby, and diamonds.

The Royal Mail commemorated their 70th anniversary by releasing a special stamp collection.The collection which features six black and white stamps captures history moments in the Royal couples journey.

Specifically, the stamp shows the couple at their engagement announcement, immediately after the wedding and their honeymoon. They’re so cute and adorable.

Even after reaching the milestone the Queen has made it known, She has no intentions of stepping down. She is dedicated to serving her country for life as she pledged on her 21st birthday.
