On their diamond-wedding anniversary, an elderly couple returns to the church in order to renew their wedding vows.
Jim Richardson, 95, and his wife, Irene, 94, chose to mark their 75th anniversary by recreating memories of their wedding.
The couple met at a dance in a village when Jim was aged 20 and his wife 19. As they cycled together in the forest, Jim popped off his bike to get down on a knee to propose her.
They tied the knot in 1944 and went on to have 4 kids and 8 grandkids. Today, they even possess 9 great grandchildren and a great great grandchild.
Even though the two have been enjoying the marriage happily, Jim has always been regretting that he did not have a wedding march and he did not express gratitude to his late mother in the groom’s speech during his marriage.
For her grandfather to live his dreams, Sandra Taylor organized a merrymaking to mark 75 years of their marriage.
The couple said ‘I do’ all over again in the same position at the same time, i.e., 2p.m. the service took place in Lancashire at St Michael’s CE church, where all their friends and family gathered.
Later, the lovely couple, at their residence, raised a toast to 75 years of being together as husband and wife.
The retired farmers still love gardening together, but not more than they love each other.
According to them, a happy and long marriage does not have a secret- one should take each day as it comes.
