As businessman Darren Street explained, he exposed a lying job applicant in his Facebook post because the man lied about the reason why he didn’t attend a pre-arranged meeting.

After Street was told that the applicant’s grandmother died, he sent a sympathy card to the family only for the applicant’s wife to get angry at her husband after realizing he lied about such a sensitive thing.

According to Mr. Street, the interview had been arranged for five days.

“As a rule we always contact the candidate 24 hours before they are due to interview and also on the morning that they are due to interview,” he said.

“This ensures that they are going to attend and any last-minute questions. Needless to say this particular candidate did not take my call the day before and on the morning of the interview he did not take my call and also ignored my text.

“But then out of the blue he sent me a text saying sorry I have not been in contact I have had some devastating news my grandmother passed away suddenly yesterday hence I have not been able to take your calls nor respond up until now.”

After telling the applicant that he understands the situation, Street also sent him a sympathy card to pay his respects.

However, the story didn’t end. After the applicant’s wife discovered the sympathy card, she confronted her husband about lying.

After the incident, the job candidate failed to swallow his pride and went on to challenge the boss for sending him a sympathy card.

“Can I ask why you sent a sympathy card to my home?” he asked.

Darren Street

“Because you told me that your grandmother had died hence you could not attend interview,” Street replied.

That’s when the candidate lashed out at Street and told him he had no right to send a sympathy card to his address. But the CEO didn’t stop there.

“So let me get this right, you lied and now your wife has found out you’ve lied and it’s my fault?” he responded.
