There’s hardly anyone who’s reading this who hasn’t eaten cereal in the morning, either because it was a breakfast staple while growing up and/or an acquired taste that has seen you unable to get through the morning without having at least one bowl even now that you’re an adult.
But just when you thought you knew everything there was to know about cereal, one woman pops that notion and tells people her discovery that we’ve been closing cereal boxes the wrong way this whole time. And if you’ve had your crispy puffs turn stale on you in a mushy cardboard box, then her contention has significance.
“It’s only taken me 40 years, but I now know the correct way to close a cereal box,” wrote Becky Holden McGhee on her Facebook. And that was news to other people as well because the video she shared where she explains the correct process in detail has gotten more than 3 million views already.
Becky, from Blackpool, UK, was flabbergasted that she only recently found out the right way for a cereal box to be sealed.
“It was accidental, I never in a million years thought it would be viewed 3 million times!” Becky said and adds that she feels “incredibly lucky, all the comments and feedback has been really kind or funny.”
The simplicity of the process played a huge part in making the cereal box-sealing process go viral. As soon as she found out, “the next morning, I thought I’d give it a go with the numerous cereal boxes we have and couldn’t believe how simple it was.” And surprisingly enough, the folding “literally takes seconds, looks really neat, and will stop cereal going all soggy.”
The first thing Becky did was post pictures of the life hack but her friend requested a video tutorial. “It made me giggle, but my husband and I quickly did and added it to the post!” Before she knew it, people were going wild over her video, commenting on it and sharing it like crazy.
Take a look at how it’s done through pictures below!
