The ‘Chair Girl’ celebrated avoiding jail time after throwing a chair from her 45th-floor balcony in an attempt to get likes on social media.
20-year-old Marcella Zoia from Canada was dubbed the Chair Girl after sharing a video in which she’s seen hurling a chair out of a 45th-floor apartment’s balcony onto the busy street below.
The bizarre stunt aimed to draw likes and attention was performed last February whereas the girl was later charged with mischief endangering life.
While the Toronto prosecutor sought for the Instagram influencer to be jailed for six months, Zoia was sentenced to two years of probation and issued a US $1,500 fine after pleading guilty in November. She is also required to perform 150 hours of community service.
As the 20-year-old’s lawyer suggested, the influencer felt “ecstatic” about her case finally coming to an end. According to attorney Gregory Leslie, his client was scared she would end up in jail following her stunt.
As CTV News reported, Zoia’s lawyer claimed that his client was drunk at the time of the incident and pressured to throw the chair due to peer pressure.
Fortunately, there were no injuries as a result of the thrown chair that landed on the Gardiner Expressway at around 10 in the morning.
Following the incident, the footage went viral and Zoia eventually turned herself in. She also apologized for her actions saying: “I apologize to everyone offended by my actions. I truly regret it and I will take responsibility.”
After the sentencing, Zoia was seen celebrating avoiding jail time by opening a champagne bottle and twerking with her friend.
