There was a time when airports were simply places for you to get on or off a plane. But with the increasingly intricate nature of air travel and with all those connecting flights around the world, duty-free shops, eateries, and even airport hotels have become practical must-haves for any major airport to be considered even half decent.

That being said, airports around the world constantly try to outdo each other in giving the best experience for the thousands of weary travelers that pass through every day. And that’s where the list of the world’s best airports come in.

Singapore’s Changi Airport has topped the 2019 list again just as it has done every year since 2013. That bodes well for anyone who happens to find themselves there but a 1.7 million Singapore dollar revamp has added a whole slew of attractions that make the airport practically a travel destination in and of itself.

With the makeover, the airport now sports its own indoor forest, a rainbow waterfall, and even an indoor maze. As if finding the next boarding gate to go to isn’t a dizzying enough experience already.

The other attractions will only open by mid-2019 and include “discovery slides,” a “canopy park,” and “foggy bowls,” that will let your kids feel like they’re playing “among the clouds.”

All of this is part of the airport’s so-called “Jewel” experience which includes over 280 shops and restaurants. It all sounds very nice even though you could enjoy yourself enough to accidentally miss your flight. But at the very least, delayed flights won’t be much of a hassle anymore.

The Mirror also reports that a 130-room hotel called YOTEL AIR Singapore Changi Airport will also be available for guests and if it looks as snazzy as the rest of the airport it should be well worth the experience.

All said it’s easy to see why the airport rules the top of the list and has done so for the past six years.

Tokyo Haneda came in second, followed by Seoul Incheon in South Korea, and Doha Hamad in Doha, Qatar.

Hong Kong was in fifth place, Munich in seventh, and London Heathrow at eighth place. Amsterdam Schiphol was 14th and Barcelona placed at number 43.

There was also a list for the World’s Cleanest Airports and Tokyo Haneda came out on top of that one. Centair Nagoya in Japan came in second while Singapore Changi was third with Seoul Incheon at fourth.
