Cheese Tea is a type of tea which is garnished with cheese at the top. China and Taiwan started making this type of tea at first with both iced and warm tea in the cup.
The cheese that is garnished at the top is not the regular cheddar or Gouda cheese, but it is cream cheese which is blended with condensed milk. The creamy cheese gives salty and sweet flavor depending on the method of preparing it.
The consistency of the cheese is similar to the consistency of whipped cream. You can get this cheese flavor on any type of tea like black, green, earl grey or matcha teas. Recently, the flavor was introduced in the U.S. and people have started trying it.
You all must be wondering if this type of tea is healthy or not? According to the experts, it’s not so healthy because of the blending of cream cheese and condensed milk together.
The combination itself contains a lot of saturated fats and sugars which is not so healthy. Though it contains 80-100 calories that doesn’t mean, it will affect your weight as such and also it is similar to the drinks which have whipped cream on the top.
Looking at the calories, it’s okay to consume cheese tea occasionally rather than consuming it daily. As we all know that tea has numerous health benefits for our body so if you want to add more tea instead of cheese, then it can be beneficial for your diet.
You can also prepare cheese tea at home by mixing milk, whipped cream, condensed milk, cream cheese and a pinch of salt in one bowl.
Then using a hand blender mix all the ingredients until small foamy peaks start forming. Then you have to cover the bowl with saran wrap and refrigerate it for 2-3 hours. Prepare your tea then toss some cool cheese topping on it.
