Recently, the actor/comedian has been involved in an incident that is not leaving anyone smiling or laughing.
Chase claims that he was physically attacked and kicked to the ground after chasing down a truck to confront the driver after he cut him off.
On February 9, the 74-year-old actor was driving over the Tappan Zee Bridge when a black pickup truck cut him off. He thought that the pickup scraped his vehicle, so he wanted to talk to the driver.
Chase flashed his high beam lights at the pickup and followed the driver behind until he pulled over. Both vehicles stopped, and the National Lampoon’s star realized no contact had been made between the truck and his car.
Even so, Chase still approached the truck driver to confront him about his reckless driving. Then, things escalated pretty quickly.
Chase told the police that one of the three passengers in the truck flipped him off. He even told them, “If I were a lot younger I’d bust your nose” and one of them climbed out of the truck to kick the elderly man in the shoulder.
enstarzAccording to the police, another driver pulled over nearby because he was concerned that the 74-year-old man was getting beaten to the ground.
Police cited the driver “for second-degree harassment with physical contact.”
The passenger claimed that it was Chase who initiated the fight by punching him first. The person who kicked was only defending himself from the attack with his foot.
Chase denied the driver’s story version. He said that he “couldn’t even lift his arm at the time.” A rep for Chase confirmed it.
Two days prior to the road rage incident, Chase fell on ice and caused “a small break in his right shoulder.” It was the same shoulder that got booted.
