Glass Skydeck on the 103rd floor of Chicago’s Willis Tower started cracking under tourists feet, leaving everyone terrified.
A mother and her two children were on the deck at the time which is on the 103rd floor of Chicago’s Willis Tower – the tallest building in Chicago.
A witness Jesus Pintado told CBS: “There was a woman with two kids and they looked really pale and scared because the floor just cracked.”
Another witness Karly Pintado said: “I’m scared of heights in general so when I saw that happen, I was like nope, not going on.”
Pintado’s husband, Jesus, filmed the shocking moment. The video footage has now gone viral and is leaving people shocked and horrified.
However, this is not the first time the Glass Skydeck has cracked. In May 2014, a similar incident happened where a protective layer of glass shattered on the same ledge window.
A representative for the tower said that no one was injured in the incident.
The representative told The Atlantic: “The [glass] coating does not affect the structural integrity of The Ledge in any way.
Occasionally, the coating will crack, as it is designed to in order to protect the surface of the glass. ”After the video went viral, people took to Twitter to share their views about the incident. One wrote: ‘And you wonder why I would never stand on that deathtrap’.
