A heartbreaking letter to Santa has gone viral after a 7-year-old child requested nothing but some food and a home for Christmas.
The touching letter was obtained by Liverpool’s L6 Community Centre where the child and their family have allegedly sought help.
According to the reports, the letter was found in the ‘Santa postbox’ by Gerard Woodhouse, a Labor Councilor, who was brought to tears after reading what’s on the kid’s note.
“Dear Father Christmas. Can you help? Can we have a home for Christmas?” the child wrote.
“Mam wants us to be all together, can you give us some food and can I just have just nice doll for Christmas. Thank you.”
As Mr. Woodhouse, who is responsible for managing the community center, expressed, the letter shows just how much some families in the area are struggling.
“This is what we’re in sadly. What is upsetting is a seven-year-old in November is already worrying about Christmas. No wonder young people have mental health problems, it’s just so sad,” the councilor said.
“This is just one of many that we’re going to see from now until Christmas.”
According to Woodhouse, he and his team are doing everything in their power to provide the 7-year-old’s family with food and accommodation.
“Referrals are coming in already in November and it is just so sad. Last year was bad, but it is going to be worse this year, we’re seeing it now and we don’t officially open for referrals – we have over a 100 so far,” he added.
