When 47 year old Sam Tomlin asked a friend of hers to help her find someone on a dating app, the last person on her mind would have been 50 year old Patrick Toplis – her childhood sweetheart.
However, as luck would have it, the two miraculously rejoined after 30 years without contact.
The two grew up together in London, where they attended school together. During that time, they remember calling each other boyfriend and girlfriend like young lovers do. However, they lost contact due to Patrick’s personal issues when he was 14 and Sam just 11.
Since then, Sam had lived on with her life. She got married, had two kids and divorced her husband in 2012. After spending more than 5 years as a single mother, she enlisted the help of her 39 year old friend Nicole Gibson.
Gibson’s role was simple. By logging on to an application known as “Wingman”, Gibson was to serve as an intermediary as she scouted for someone who can best accompany her friend Sam. Little did she know of Patrick, who is currently a physical trainer, and Sam’s history.
Since their rejoice, the two have maintained a healthy and loving relationship like they used to as students. Sam says the couple always talk about how lucky both of them are to be given a chance to rekindle a love that both thought they had forgotten, but in reality had not.
3 years into the relationship, the couple is said to be considering marriage. Sam added that the relationship seems to be going even better because they met again at a more mature age and as adults who have gone through the twists of life.
The happy girlfriend said her boyfriend has always been her best friend. She remembered how she felt devastated when she suddenly lost contact with Patrick after being close friends who already knew each other for years by the time that they separated.
Sam continued by saying back then, there was virtually no way in which she could find Patrick due to the lack of mobile phones or social media. She added that it would have been neigh impossible to find each other even if she were to look for Patrick online because so much time has passed.
