A group of fifty parents and fifty children with Down syndrome have joined arms to create a heartwarming video consisting of short clips to mark the World Down Syndrome Day.
The video is a part of the #wouldntchangeathing campaign and was created ahead of World Down Syndrome Day which takes place on March 21.
The short video contains clips of 50 children who are seen having fun doing everyday things while the Queen classic ‘Don’t Stop Me Now’ is playing in the background.
The hashtag behind the video first surfaced last year when 50 families across the UK made use of sign language to follow Christina Perri’s track ‘A Thousand Years.’
The moving video named ‘50 Mums, 50 Kids, 1 Extra Chromosome’ now has millions of viewers and thousands of fans who were touched by the clip.
As for this year’s video, the mastermind behind the project is 43-year-old GP Mairi Watkins from Newton Mearns, Scotland.
“With the parental relationship being the focus of previous projects, I felt that it was time to build on this message by putting individuals with Down’s syndrome front and center,” the mother-of-two said.
“Don’t Stop Me Now lets their fulfilling lives do the talking. It holds up a mirror to society and dares the viewer to challenge everything they thought they knew about Down’s syndrome and to think again.”
In the 4-minute video, Mairi’s 5-year-old daughter, Emma, appears singing and dancing. Meanwhile, her older brother is seen hitting the drums in the background while wearing dark shades.
