At least 20 children have sprouted hair all over their bodies after they were given hair restorer.

According to reports, around 20 children were mistakenly given minoxidil instead of omeprazole for stomach upsets.
The mislabeled medicine was delivered to pharmacies in Valencia, Cantabria, and Granada where chemists incorporated the syrup into a formula to treat gastric reflux.
Outraged parents have complained in public and it was later confirmed that at least twenty children were affected.
Two years after the mishap, families of the children have said that the hair keeps growing even though their kids were taking a high dose of medication.
The affected children reportedly developed hypertrichosis, also called ‘werewolf syndrome,’ a condition characterized by excessive hair growth.
The naturally occurring form of hypertrichosis has no cure but it is not clear if the effects of the hair restorer drug on children can still be reversed.
Authorities found out that at the end of July 2019, a group of families filed a complaint with the authorities, according to the Ministry of Health.
It took the authorities two months to determine the error and to close the laboratory where the mishap occurred.
One mother whose child was affected asked Antena 3 television station: “Why does it take more than two months to test a medicine?”
The furious mother continued: “We have been told nothing. I am furious, scared and feel misunderstood and a complete lack of empathy.”
The outraged families have filed criminal and civil complaints against the laboratory and other companies for importing and distributing the hair restorer drug.
