Children Left Fighting For Life After Massive Amounts Of Chlorine Are Dumped In Swimming Pool


Several children have been left fighting for their lives after massive amounts of chlorine were dumped into a swimming pool in Russia.

The incident took place in the Russian city of Astrakhan where 250 times the maximum legal amount of chlorine was discovered in the water of an operating swimming pool.

According to the reports, thirty people were poisoned as a result of the blunder, whereas 21 children had to be hospitalized over injuries sustained while swimming in the pool.

As local government spokesperson Anastasia Krotova confirmed shortly after the incident, several of the hospitalized children remain in intensive care where they continue to fight for their lives.

Following the massive chlorine poisoning, an investigation has been launched, whereas officials believe that staff responsible for the pool’s maintenance were behind the excessive amounts of chlorine in the water.

In pictures from the scene, workers wearing hazmat suits are seen inspecting the pool and making necessary measurements.

According to the reports, officials have confirmed that the chlorine content in the swimming pool was 250 times over the permitted limit.

Following the incident, the pool in question has been closed for business and a criminal case has been filed.

Meanwhile, Igor Babushkin, the governor of the Astrakhan region, was spotted talking to families of the hospitalized victims at the Silishcheva Astrakhan Regional Children’s Clinical Hospital.
