The young nurse was first arrested back in 2018, and rearrested in 2019, after becoming a prime suspect in the police investigation that started in 2017 after a surge of deaths at the neonatal unit at Countess of Chester Hospital. She was arrested for the third time in late 2020 following years of investigation.

The 31-year-old has since been accused of murdering five baby boys and three baby girls she was tasked with taking care of. The nurse was also charged with attempted murder of ten other infants between March 2015 and July 2016.

As an investigation showed, a series of babies at the hospital were strangely impossible to resuscitate after dying of organ failure shorty after their birth.

“A dedicated team of detectives have been working extremely hard on this highly complex and very sensitive case doing everything they can as quickly as they can to identify what has led to these baby deaths and collapses,” Detective Chief Inspector Paul Hughes previously said.
