Chinese-Indian territorial disputes have crossed the line and has reached new escalation of tensions as China carried on its live-fire military drills near the Indian border.
The Chinese army carried out the very hostile military practice at the Tibetan plateau, This has been seen as a response to the Indian army’s recent warning to China after around 20 of Indian soldiers were killed in a recent brawl at the two states’ border region at the Galwan Valley. In the same incident, Beijing has claimed that they have suffered more with 43 casualties, but they have remained secretive until now.
As hawks in Delhi demanded retribution for the skirmish, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi warned ‘the sacrifice of the soldiers will not go in vain.
India wants peace but if antagonised it can and will give a befitting reply whatever the situation is.
’ China meanwhile broadcast images of intense military exercises, staged at 15,419ft and featuring some of the country’s most powerful weapons, including the Type 15 light tank, HJ-10 anti-tank missile, Type 11 rocket launcher and Type 07A self-propelled artillery. It remains unclear when the training took place, but CCTV said it was carried out by the PLA stationed in the Tibetan Military Region, which deals with threats from countries around Tibet, including India.
Footage aired on state TV showed soldiers sending out scouting drones, launching cannons, forming attacking patterns with tanks and military trucks, and firing at enemy warplanes.
In Beijing, foreign ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian said the clash erupted after Indian soldiers ‘crossed the line, acted illegally, provoked and attacked the Chinese, resulting in both sides engaging in serious physical conflict and injury and death’.
According to the Indian account of the brawl, what had started out as an effort at disengagement after a month-long standoff along the frontier unravelled last week when Indian troops furiously dismantled a camp set up by the Chinese on their side of the border.
Scuffles broke out and several men were injured, but the Chinese only retreated briefly to flood back in greater numbers over the weekend, with stones being hurled on Sunday.
On Monday these skirmishes boiled over into a full-scale brawl atop a ridge-line above the Galwan River, with many men said to have died after plunging into the frigid glacial waters below. If you liked this article, please LIKE SHARE AND COMMENT below!
