The official state media of the Chinese Communist Party posted an online video that obviously humiliates and pokes fun at the United States’ reactions to the global pandemic. Almost all non-Chinese sources report that Covid-19 began in Wuhan, a large industry city in China.
Xinhua News Agency uploaded a video titled ‘Once upon a Virus’. China is represented by a terracotta warrior wearing a mask, while the US was represented by the Statue of Liberty who health progressively gets worse as the banter continues.
The video that is less than 2 minutes long start with the titles “Once Upon a Virus” written on a red curtain as you can see from the picture above. It begins as China is depicted as reporting strange cases of pneumonia to the World Health Organization in December.
Then, it shows how China warns and sets a model for the US while the US keeps on disregarding the recommendations and dangers of the virus. You can check the whole video here. Many of the lines that the Statue of Liberty says are either direct quotes or summaries of President Trump’s remarks.
Perhaps the most tongue-in-cheek remark comes when the terracotta warrior mockingly and condescendingly says that the thing it likes the most about Americans is their consistency.
Many experts agree that this video is one of the many tactics that the Chinese government has employed to play the blame game. While most of the world still continues to struggle with Covid-19, the situations have reportedly subsided in China.
This diplomatic feud that China has been fueling up is nothing new. Back in March, high-ranking Chinese officials fanned the conspiracy theory that the US Army has developed and spread the Coronavirus. There is no scientific evidence that supports this point.
America is not the only nation that China is jeering or picking a fight with. The Chinese ambassador to Australia received a formal complain from the Australian government when he suggested that China may boycott Australian goods and services. Australia has suggested that an international panel investigate China’s initial reactions to the virus.
An editor for another state-operated news agency recently likened Australia to gum stuck to the soles of China’s shoes. In Communist China, all media opinions can be understood as thinly veiled statements from the Communist Party.
We hope that China begins to act in a responsible and respectful manner as the world continues its fight with the novel coronavirus. Share with us your thoughts in the comments below, and be sure to follow us on Facebook for more news like this one.
